Wonderful Hawaii - A Spectacular Holiday
Ahhh Beautiful Hawaii is definitely one of the main holiday attractions within the entire world. For good reason too! This set of islands provides beauty beyond compare and does not require a passport for U.S. tourists. It’s the 50th of the fifty states, but the culture here is so various it feels like you’re in a whole different place.
Hawaii has eight main islands. They are the island of Hawaii (The Big Island), Maui (The Valley Isle), Kaho’olawe (The Target Isle), Lana’i (The Pineapple Isle), Moloka’i (The Friendly Isle), O’ahu (The Gathering Place), Kaua’i (The Garden Isle) and Ni’ihau (The Forbidden Isle).
The indigenous Hawaiian language of the islands is especially beautiful to hear, but Hawaii boasts two recognized languages. Both Hawaiian and English are spoken fluently here. Though using the first has diminished over time there has been a recent resurgence with the heritage. Educational facilities are found everywhere in the islands aimed at breathing life back into this exceptional and lovely heritage.
On the Big Island is the world’s tallest mountain, Mauna Kea. Though it is recognized world-wide to be only 13,796 feet, the actual height from it’s foundation nearly 20,000 feet below sea level, is much different. Indeed, at an overall 33,500 feet its higher than Mount Everest. Very impressive!
The weather condition in the Hawaiian islands is wonderful year round. It consists of the general weather patterns in a warm locale. The trade winds, though, render humidity less intense than in many other tropical areas around the world. The islands effectively have only two seasons, the dry season from May and lasts through October and also the rainy months that begins later in November and continues throughout March.
The Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor in 1941, by air and sea, sinking or destroying several Navy warships and taking some 2400 lives. You can tour and explore the exact site as well as check out several old ships still there to this day.
Main cities in the islands include Honolulu, South Point, Pukalani, Lawai, Napili, Keaukaha, Wailua and Wainiha. Each hold their own personal experience for vacationers, but it would take more than just one trip to the islands to experience it all.
If Pearl Harbor isn’t ample history for you you’ll also discover a little from all of the ancestry discovered spread through out the archipelago. The most common ancestral communities present in island society are Scottish, French, Mexican, African, Puerto Rican, Italian, Portuguese, Korean, Irish, English, German, Chinese, Filipino, Japanese and of course Polynesian. But Hawaii has even more to offer than just simply Hawaiian culture alone.
This brief description is simply not sufficient to do this vacation destination justice. A visit would be needed to truly appreciate Hawaii’s loveliness and history - just ask anybody lucky enough to have spent some time on any of the Hawaiian islands.
