Now is The Time To Purchase Acreage On The Big Island At A Bargain Price
There is no better time to be on the lookout for real estate bargains, especially for land in some of the most desriable locations like Hawaii. Hawaii seems to be a major target for people from the US and other countries to purchase homes. It’s easy to miss how large the Big Island is, with many different climate zones and a total land area that is bigger than all of the other islands in the state combined. Here’s a source for a discussion comparing differences in climate, water temperature and even economic factors between Hawaii and California.
On the rainy side is the historical town of Hilo. There is a reason that this area feels so tropical; it rains nearly every day. The major county government departments have their headquarters in Hilo. If you prefer the wetter tropical environment, consider Big Island real estate in Hilo.
On the west side of the island is the Kona District. As the tropical rain clouds pass over the mountains much of the moisture is squeezed out, and onto Hilo on the windward side. That explains why the leeward side at Kona gets so much less rainfall. Most people seem to be inclined to the dry side, since there is more sunshine on average in Kona than in Hilo.
There is some excellent Hawaii land to be found in the Kona area, where coffee orchards are found at the higher elevations above Kailua-Kona. The last few years have hit Hawaii real estate very hard and it is possible to find some terrific deals on residential land. There is an atmosphere about the Big Island that is different than the other islands. If you are thinking about buying land for a retirement or vacation home, take a look at Kona and the Big Island.
